Grades

For a detailed description of the various evaluation activities please go to the Activities section.

Continuous Assessment Grade

  • The CAT grade is computed as the average of all the grades but the lowest one.

  • All CATs have the same weight.

  • CATs not attended by the student will be computed as 0.0 unless a written justification is presented.

Extra grades

The extra activities yield some extra grade points that might increase your course grade.

  • Student Talks: Maximum of 2.0 grade points.

  • Class Participation: Each accounted participation is worth 1 point. There is a maximum of 2 participations per class. The maximum is 10 points which is equivalent to 1.0 grade points.

Course Grade

The Course Grade is computed according to the following rules:

  1. Final Grade rule: The maximum between the following values:

    1. Simple average between the CAT Grade and the Final Exam Grade.

    2. Final Exam Grade.

  2. Extra Grade rule: If the course grade passes (grade >= 5.0) then it is incremented by the Extra grades.

  3. Re-evaluation Grade rule: The re-evaluation exam can be attended by any student, distinguishing two cases:

    1. The student did pass the course grade and wishes to improve the course grade: The re-evaluation exam grade replaces the Final exam grade if higher.

    2. The student did not pass the course grade: The grade is computed according to the following rules:

      1. The Re-evaluation Grade is the grade from the re-evaluation exam but limited to 6.5.

      2. The grade is the maximum between:

        1. The simple average between the CAT Grade and Re-evaluation Exam Grade.

        2. The Re-evaluation Exam Grade.

      3. If this grade passes (it is higher than 5.0) then it is incremented by the Extra grades.
